Drag Race Fan Anne Hathaway Cries Tears of Joy While Meeting RuPaul

Anne Hathaway

The actress and long-time LGBTQ ally shares how she was moved that she and Monet X Change both learned to step their "pu**ies up."

While visiting The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote her new comedy The Hustle, Anne Hathaway revealed that her favorite TV show is RuPaul's Drag Race.

After admitting she'd never met the drag icon, RuPaul, Colbert surprised her and brought him out to join them. Hathaway burst into tears of joy.

Prior to introducing surprise guest RuPaul, Colbert asked Hathaway what message he could deliver to the Drag Race host who was slated to appear on The Late Show the next night.

"Just say 'I love you," Hathaway, a long-time LGBTQ ally, said.

"Well, why don't you say it to him right now," Colbert said as he introduced RuPaul.

Colbert asked RuPaul if had anything he would like to say to Hathaway, who was wiping away tears.

"Darling, you are the winner of this week's challenge. "Shante you stay," RuPaul said as Hathaway kissed his cheek.

When asked what she loved most about the show, she spoke about Monet X Change, who was eliminated during her first season on the show but returned to become a cowinner of season 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars.

"Monet X Change's entire journey. Just how amazing she was in season 10. I really take this very seriously," Hathaway said.

"And then the growth between season 10 and season 11 -- the way she stepped her pussy up," a sobbing Hathaway said. "I feel like since I started been an actress I've learned how to step my pussy up. And now I'm (bleeped out) and I'm just so thrilled for her and me and you and you."

Hathaway and Rebel Wilson star in The Hustle out in theaters on May 10.
