The Cher Show Footage Is an Early Christmas Gift From the Gay Gods

The Cher Show

The homage to the legend opens tonight on Broadway with Stephanie J. Block, Teal Wicks, and Micaela Diamond portraying her through 35 songs.

Christmas has come early with Monday night's opening of The Cher Show, and now there's plenty of footage of the three women who portray Cher through 35 songs and six decades of the legend's life. From "I Got You Babe" to "If I Could Turn Back Time" and beyond, Stephanie J. Block, Teal Wicks, and Micaela Diamond have audiences leaping to their feet during previews, according to a segment on Today.

Directed by Jason Moore (Avenue Q, Pitch Perfect), The Cher Show goes beyond Cher's storied career and delves into her love life with Jarrod Spector playing Sonny Bono, Michael Campayno as Rob Camilletti, and Matthew Hydzik as Gregg Allman. Additionally, Michael Berresse stars as Cher's go-to designer Bob Mackie, and Emily Skinner plays her mother, Georgia Holt.

Now in her 70s and with a recent career resurgence thanks to her appearance in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and her subsequent album of ABBA covers, Cher is also a producer on the musical.

Regarding the musical, she told Elle, "I'm fussy 'cause it's my story. I want it to be honest and right and funny and sad, like my life."

Watch scenes below.

And watch Block, Teal, and Diamond discuss playing Cher.
