Bill Clinton Officiates at Weiner Wedding

Former president Bill Clinton officiated at the Saturday nuptials of Congressman Anthony Weiner of New York and Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

According to WPIX, which cited an Associated Press report, “Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna said President Clinton was authorized to perform the nuptials, but didn't elaborate.”

The wedding took place at Oheka Castle in Huntington, Long Island.

Weiner, 45, represents parts of Brooklyn and Queens and is discussed as a potential New York City mayoral candidate in 2013. He was an ardent supporter of Secretary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. The congressman and Abedin, 34, dated for about two years, according to WPIX.

Politico offers a photo of the newlyweds. The bride wore a gown by Oscar de la Renta.

The Clintons are preparing for the wedding of their daughter, Chelsea, who will marry longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky on July 31 on Martha's Vineyard, reports WPIX.

While I agree this is not news, let's remember we are attacking someone who is a supporter of gay issues and rights, how about a thank you instead of wondering about his marriage, what a bunch of petty people. Thank you for standing up for us Anthony, and Congratulations!

Long ago the Advocate was the go-to place for GLBT news. Just looking at today's site, its 'DOMA PRESIDENT OFFICIATES STRAIGHT WEDDING'; 'OOH! OOH! CELEBRITIES!' ; 'TODAY IN ABS', 'NEWS ABOUT SOMEBODY THIS REPORTER THINKS IS CUTE' and '(YAWN), SOME GLBT NEWS'. Stop being 'People Magazine' and go back to being 'Gay Newsweek'

"B.J. Clinton officiates A [instead of 'at'] Weinner Wedding" would be a more appropriate tittle. But the irony of the whole thing (being the president that signed DOMA into law let alone lied under oath) is that this type of hypocrisy is not only condoned but celebrated by the left. God bless the liberals!

And this has WHAT THE F*CK to do with Gay people!? Who cares if an old straight white guy who promised to end the prohibition of Gays serving in the military but instead when back on his promise and gave us DADT, marries some tight assed privileged straight white folks!?

Yes, this is the man responsible for DOMA, now enjoying the perks of marriage for his friends and family. Not to mention, Weiner, at 45, was one of the most eligible "bachelors" on Capitol Hill. Sometimes, not everything has to be spelled out in bold letters to be a "gay" news stories, guys.

Of course this is LGBT news. Let me shed some less obvious perspective from mere footsteps beyond NYC's border. Weiner was, until this moment, a suspiciously unmarried, 45-year-old man from Brooklyn who defiantly supports all gay issues and is a regular on Rachel Maddow's show. Gotta wonder why he is choosing to tie a knot, officiated by DOMA-signing Clinton. The double-standard subtext is pretty clear.

I guess the article forgot to include: and approximately 10.5 million GLBT Americans are unable to legally marry in 46 states, all American Indian reservations except one, and all US territories but one.
