Salt Lake City business leaders say a bill that would ban discrimination against LGBT people would be good for business.
State senator Ben McAdams introduced the original bill, but it never got a committee hearing, notes The Salt Lake Tribune. McAdams is looking to reintroduce the bill this year; it would prohibit housing and hiring discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. His legislation is backed by business interests, notably Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce president Lane Beattie.
Beattie told the Tribune, "We feel it's an unwise policy to have it just limited to certain cities where they end up with a patchwork of follow-through on such an important issue."
