Frida Kahlo to appear on stamp, screen

A U.S. Postal Service stamp honoring bisexual Mexican artist Frida Kahlo is scheduled to be released during 2001, the first time a Hispanic woman has been honored in such a way, according to the New York Post. In the meantime, filming progresses in Mexico on a movie version of Kahlos life starring Salma Hayek, with Alfred Molina (Prick Up Your Ears) as her husband, Diego Rivera. USAToday.com reports that Hayek has adopted both the monobrow and the mustache for her portrayal; she acknowledges that the mustache is her own: I shaved myself a couple of times so it would grow naturally. Its very small, but it is there. In spite of the hirsute appearance, Hayek states, I think she was beautiful. She notes, however, I dont want to make her look like shes a slut. After having competed with Madonna for the role and spending six years keeping the film on track, Hayek claims that now I come to work with a smile on my face every day.... Theres a lot of fun...a lot of drama.
