Gabin by Eric Lanuit (Read about this exhibit, click "More" button.)
We guys generally love the male body. That’s a given. But something magical and transformative happens when the male body is enhanced with uniforms and costumes that represent certain types of men. The clothing takes on a power of its own. Eric Lanuit explores this in his new exhibit, "Uniforms and Fantasies: The Photographs of Eric Lanuit."
Eric tells us: “Authority, power, heroism, strength, or simply the aesthetics of clothing and accessories, the enhancement of the male body — all these mixed feelings at the sight of a man in uniform awake our imagination and strata of our homoerotic cultural unconscious.
“The uniform, but also the work clothes, the regulation outfits, the sports gear, the fetishist outfits — these clothes and accessories excite libido and imagination though the promise of masculine sex overflowing with testosterone, hot games of domination and submission, exhibitionism, and worship.”
Whew, OK, we’re there.
