The Indianapolis Museum of Art is installing a monumental artwork--Untitled (For Jeff), by out artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres--on the museum's facade, on the exteriors of other buildings that show contemporary art, and on outdoor billboards throughout the city. The citywide public art project begins Sunday, November 20, and runs through Sunday, January 29. "Gonzalez-Torres's billboards take his work directly into the public sphere, with the understanding that his images will be interpreted differently by each person and in each setting in which they appear," said Lisa Freiman, the IMA's curator of contemporary art, in a statement.
