       Performance artist Noel Alumit will present Master of the (Miss) Universe at Highways Performance Space beginning Friday, August 31, through Saturday, September 8. This tribute to beauty pageants addresses issues of race, sexuality, art, and how to tell if you have a good nose; it's described as "a gay Filipino man's account of the search for beauty in a world where there appears to be none." Highways is located at 1651 18th Street in Santa Monica, Calif.; for reservations, call (310) 315-1459.
