Writer-actress Nia Vardalos, whose My Big Fat Greek Wedding was one of 2002's biggest hits, has set her sights on her next project, a comedy about cross-dressing musicians. Syndicated columnist Romeo San Vicente reports that Vardalos will write and star in Connie and Carla, described as a cross between Tootsie and Some Like It Hot, about two working-class female friends who are forced to pose as drag queens. The film is scheduled to go into production in April.
