Cast announced for Doug Wright's Grey Gardens musical

The two leads have been announced for the upcoming off-Broadway musical adaptation of the acclaimed documentary Grey Gardens, according to Playbill.com. Mary Louise Wilson (Cabaret, Full Gallop) will play Edith Bouvier Beale, and Christine Ebersole (of 42nd Street and the current Steel Magnolias revival) will play Edith's daughter, Edie. The show's libretto is by out Pulitzer and Tony winner Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife, Quills). The musical, based on the 1976 documentary by David and Albert Maysles, will premiere as part of Playwrights Horizons' 2005-2006 season, which will also include the New York premiere of Christopher Durang's Miss Witherspoon and the world premieres of David Marshall Grant's Pen and Sarah Schulman's Manic Flight Reaction.
