Bryan Singer's
Superman Returns doesn't open until June
30, but Variety reports that Warner Bros. is
already set to ask the out director to make the sequel.
Superman star Brandon Routh is already
contractually bound to a sequel, but Singer--whose
credits include The Usual Suspects and the X-Men
films--is not. Warner Bros. is clearly
enthusiastic about its new wave of superheroes, since
it is also cooking up a sequel to the 2005 hit Batman
Begins. If Singer does take a second crack at the
Man of Steel, he'll have to find room for it among two other
projects he's committed to at Warner Bros.--a remake
of the science fiction cult hit Logan's Run and
the long-awaited screen adaptation of The Mayor of
Castro Street, Randy Shilts's biography of slain gay
politician Harvey Milk that was also the basis of the
Oscar-winning documentary The Times of Harvey Milk.
