Elton John's musical adaptation of Anne Rice's Lestat got roasted by critics upon its recent Broadway debut, but the gay pop superstar isn't closing up shop as a composer for the stage. After all, The Lion King and Aida were big hits around the world, and Billy Elliot is London's hottest ticket.

So what's next? Sir Elton says he wants to tackle a musical adaptation of Pedro Almodovar's acclaimed comedy Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. "It's such a colorful story and different from what I've done before," he told reporters. "I could have a lot of fun with something like that."

As for Lestat, John says he and Bernie Taupin are still tweaking it. "You never stop working on a musical. Even after it's opened." (The Advocate)
