At Chicago's annual Pride reception Tuesday, it was announced that Quaker-Tropicana-Gatorade and ESPN have both signed on as Gay Games sponsors. The mayor also reported to the over 500 people in attendance at the event that Erasure's Andy Bell has been scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony for the Games on July 15. The Chicago-based company QTG has joined over 300 other corporations and agencies in supporting the 2006 Gay Games. Gatorade will be the official sports drink for the Games, and Tropicana and Quaker will provide healthy breakfasts and snacks to athletes throughout the competition. ESPN has become the official sponsor of the opening ceremony's fireworks display. Bell joins such celebrities as Cyndi Lauper, Margaret Cho, Megan Mullally, and many more who will perform at the opening ceremonies of the Games. (The Advocate)
