Award-winning gay playwright and former Queer as Folk writer Del Shores was honored with the 276th star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars on October 5. In addition, Congresswoman Mary Bono was on hand to present Shores with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition. Other California politicians, including state senator Denise Moreno Ducheny and Palm Springs mayor Ron Oden, presented Shores with further official commendations.

Shores and his theatrical troupe were in Palm Springs as part of the national tour of Shores's plays Sordid Lives and Southern Baptist Sissies. Other tour stops this year include St. Louis, Nashville, and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with additional dates to be announced for 2007. Complete information about the tour can be found at www.edbaran.com/aseasonofshores. (The Advocate)
