A first-season contestant on the pop reality show American Idol will star as Mimi Marquez in the Broadway production of Rent starting May 29 through November 25. Since taking fourth place behind winner Kelly Clarkson in 2003, Tamyra Gray landed a recurring role on the television series Boston Public, appeared in the Bollywood-inspired musical Bombay Dreams, and wrote the song "I Believe" for fourth-season American Idol winner Fantasia.
Original Rent cast members Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal will return to the show for a limited engagement, July 30 to September 9.
Rent is scheduled to play at the Nederlander Theatre in New York. (The Advocate)
