LGBT-friendly
video game blog GayGamer.net was knocked off-line with a
flood of threats and hate speech in what appears to be a
hate crime, reports news blog Kotaku.
Flynn DeMarco,
the site's owner, said sporadic "denial of service"
attacks started Wednesday morning, causing delays on the
site. By Friday GayGamer.net was able to block the attacks,
prompting the hacker to flood the site's forums and
chat rooms with hate speech, including several death
threats. All the attacks originated from the same IP
address in Philadelphia.
The site has
been forced to go off-line until the attacks could be
permanently blocked. DeMarco hopes to make the site
operational this week. (The Advocate)
