Sir Paul
McCartney and Yoko Ono are both said to be livid after a
book they both participated in makes claims that John
Lennon longed to be in a relationship with McCartney.
Both Ono and
McCartney agreed to be interviewed for the book John
Lennon: The Life, which is due in stores later
this year. After reading an early draft, Ono has retracted
her endorsement, and McCartney is said to be
distancing himself from the project, according to
Reuters.
"Both Sir Paul
and Yoko are extremely angry and upset," a source told
the news agency.
In addition to
rumors that Lennon was romantically interested in his
bandmate, the book alleges Lennon fantasized about sleeping
with his mother.
This isn't
the first time a book about the legendary Beatle has alleged
that he slept with men. A 1988 bio The Lives of
John Lennon claimed he had an affair with
Beatles manager Brian Epstein, among other men.
