After winning an Oscar for playing the bisexual Virginia Woolf, Nicole Kidman will again go LGBT in The Danish Girl, an independent film that tells the story of the first post-operative transsexual, reports TheHollywood Reporter.

Kidman will play Einar Wegener, a male Danish artist married to fellow artist Greta Wegener. After standing in for a female model, Einar began adopting a woman's persona before having a sex-change operation in 1931 that scandalized the world. Greta will be played by Charlize Theron, who won an Academy Award for playing a lesbian killer in Monster.

The film will be directed by Anand Tucker (Shopgirl) and adapted by writer Lucinda Coxon from a 2000 bestseller by David Ebershoff. Early work on the film has begun, but a start date for principal photography has not yet been released. Kidman is also attached to a biopic on lesbian blues/pop singer Dusty Springfield.
