Cher appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman on Thursday
and discussed her son Chaz's gender transition. The gay icon struggled
with pronouns at times as the host pressed her for an in-depth
conversation about topics like the difference between gender identity
and sexual orientation.
"I still haven't got the pronouns right, but she says that's not so important," said Cher, who stars in the upcoming film Burlesque with Christina Aguilera.
Asked by Letterman, Cher said that Chaz had considered his transition for at least 10 years. They also discussed comments made by the comedian Bill Maher, who once attributed Chaz's need to transition to "that outfit" his mother wore.
"F**k him," said Cher.
Watch the interview in clips posted by Joe.My.God. The conversation about Chaz begins at the 12:30 mark in the first clip and continues into the second.
