10. DVD: Make the Yuletide Gay
Out Degrassi star Adamo Ruggerio (above, left) headlines this spirited holiday romp about the mishaps that ensue when a gay college student goes back into the closet while visiting his family over Christmas break. Now on Blu-ray and loaded with new bonus features.
9. BOOK: Annie Leibovitz, Pilgrimage
The renowned photographer focuses her magnificent lens on objects (artifacts associated with Annie Oakley, Emily Dickinson, and Elvis) and places that hold significance for her, including the homes of Virginia Woolf and Sigmund Freud.
8. TV: Project Runway All Stars
Fashions may go out of style, but designers never do. Mondo Guerra (pictured) is among 13 past Project Runway competitors who'll return for what promises to be 12 lively episodes, filled with not only difficult challenges but plenty of behind-the-scenes drama. Premieres on Lifetime January 5.
7. DVD: Into the Lion's Den
Violet Tendencies' Jesse Archer and Eating Out: Drama Camp's Ronnie Kroell venture out of the comedic comfort zones (and bare all emotionally and physically) to star in this depraved Deliverance-esque thriller as close friends who escape their humdrum lives in West Hollywood by driving to New York only to encounter unexpected trouble at a backwoods gay bar on the way.
6. DVD: Glee: The 3D Concert Movie
They work hard for the money. During a break from filming the Fox musical juggernaut, members of Glee's tireless cast venture out on tour to perform favorite cover tunes with all the trademark high energy fans have come to expect. Gleeks who couldn't catch the live show will rejoice, as Chris Colfer and the gang were filmed during their sold-out tour earlier this year for this concert film-documentary, which is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
5. MUSIC: Aiden James, "Best Shot"
The scruffy singer-songwriter (think a gay beefcake version of Damien Rice) has released the catchy first single off his album Trouble With This (due in early 2012), and it's an infectious, electro-tinged upbeat ballad that pays tribute to love in the Big Apple. AidenJamesMusic.com
4. TV: Billy on the Street
"Would you rather have sex with Katie Couric or Katy Perry?" That's one of the ridiculous questions Funny or Die's fearless Billy Eichner poses to pedestrians in New York when he brings his uproarious man-on-the-street act to television. The series airs on Fuse.
3. BLOG: Born This Way
Inspired by Lady Gaga's empowerment anthem, DJ and club promoter Paul V. launched a blog that allows LGBT people from all over the world to share memories of when they realized they weren't hetero. Many of the photos and stories will be compiled in a book to be published late next year. BornThisWayBlog.com
2. THEATER: Darren Criss, How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying
Talk about a brotherhood of man! The Glee heartthrob will take over as ambitious window cleaner J. Pierrepont Finch from departing star Daniel Radcliffe in the hit musical satire for three weeks beginning January 3 before passing the torch to Nick Jonas January 24. New York's Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
1. TV: CNN New Year's Eve Live
Kathy Griffin has already joked that she plans to humiliate cohost Anderson Cooper by slipping him a roofie during their fifth year hosting the network's New Year's countdown special. Here's hoping Cooper breaks into another fit of uncontrollable giggles. Happy New Year indeed!
