Telling Tales: Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

Sydney Mardi Gras celebrates 40 years in 2018. It's a signifcant turning point for our LGBTQI community and an important stage in Australian history.

Sydney photographer Richard Hedger has compiled 40 portraits of Sydney-based members of the LGBTQI community and recorded their stories about the relevance, impact and evolving role the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras plays in their lives - past, present and future. For more information about the book and how to support it, please visit the GoFundMe.com page

These are the people, faces, familiar, famous, not so famous, unsung heroes, local and international, sharing their experiences, thoughts, refections, memories, and insights into the significance, impact and relevance of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras -- ranging what it means to them personally to its role as a powerful and symbolic influencer in the past, present, and future for our LGBTQI community at large.
