Police are investigating the assault as a hate crime.
Early Thursday morning, a transgender woman was walking alone and talking on her cell phone in Los Angeles's Hollywood neighborhood when a stranger stabbed her three times and fled.
Police are now investigating the incident, which took place around 2 a.m. near an entrance ramp to the 101 Freeway, as a hate crime, L.A. TV station KNBC reports.
The woman told police her attacker made a threatening remark before stabbing her twice in her right arm and once in the left. No arrest has been made.
The incident took place less than 4 miles away from where Republican congressional candidate harassed and chased a transgender woman out of a ladies' restroom.
Watch the KNBC report below. The victim was treated at the scene but refused to be transported by ambulance to a hospital.
