Tony winner Erivo plays Tubman, who escaped slavery only to risk her life multiple times to save others. 

Tony winner Cynthia Erivo stars as the titular Harriet Tubman in the new movie about the abolitionist who put who escaped slavery only to then continually put her life on the line using the Underground Railroad to rescue dozens of people from enslavement. Out actress and musician Janelle Monae (Hidden Figures) costars as Marie, a free Black woman who helps arm and train Harriet for her work rescuing people.

Eve's Bayou director Kaci Lemmons is at the helm of the film that costars Hamilton'sLeslie Odom Jr. and Joe Alwyn.

Erivo won a Tony for playing Celie in The Color Purple and went on to appear on TV in The Tunnel and in the film Widows.
