On Sunday 25,000 people walked six miles through San Francisco's Golden Gate Park for the city's 18th annual AIDS walk. The walkers raised nearly $4 million for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and other AIDS organizations. Mayor Gavin Newsom was among the walkers, who also included celebrities Deborah Gibson, Rita Moreno, Jai Rodriguez of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and Hal Sparks from Queer as Folk. "I think this shows the continued urgency of the AIDS epidemic at home," said AIDS Walk founder Craig Miller. Since it began in 1987 the walk has raised more than $250 million for AIDS charities.
