The House on Tuesday voted 415-9 to approve a bill aiming to protect AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children in developing nations, the Pleasanton, Calif., Tri-Valley Herald reports. The bill, sponsored by Democratic representative Barbara Lee of California, would create a special adviser for AIDS orphans and vulnerable children at the U.S. Agency for International Development. The adviser would coordinate U.S. assistance for children in poor countries. A similar bill is pending in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and is expected to easily pass that body.
