Tadataka Yamada, chair of research and development for drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline, has been named executive director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's global health program. Yamada, who will begin work with the foundation in June, will head the organization's vaccine development efforts and programs that aim to distribute medications to treat HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria in developing countries.
