The executive director of the National Lesbian Health Organization, the Mautner Project, will take a four-month sabbatical starting December 1, the organization announced. Kathleen DeBold will be temporarily replaced by current board chair Kathleen Maloy while the board development committee chair, Jane Holloway, will step in for Maloy.

The group is following suit in offering paid sabbaticals after the New York City-based LGBT Community Center, Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, Lambda Legal, and Breast Cancer Action have all done the same.

"We believe that we are smart and looking forward to offer the paid sabbatical to Kathleen," Maloy said in a press release. "In our estimation, the ultimate beneficiary will be the Mautner Project. Her sabbatical will create a supported community for growth and development in ways that are not possible while Kathleen is running the Mautner Project. The organization will also benefit from having our exceptional executive director returned with enhanced leadership skills and renewed vigor." (The Advocate)
