Original Broadway
Dreamgirls actress Sheryl Lee Ralph announced
the winning photographs in Bristol-Myers Squib's
Reyataz "Fight HIV Your Way" photography
contest on Monday in New York City. The contest was
open to individuals who have been affected by HIV, and
the grand-prize winner and 50 second-place photographs were
revealed at Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal,
where they will be be on display through
Wednesday before moving to other venues in May and June.
"Each photograph in the exhibit is a
piece of art that tells a thought-provoking story
about the wide variety of experiences people have with
HIV today," Ralph said in a statement. "In my
own work as an artist and advocate, I encourage
breaking the silence around HIV, reducing the stigmas
associated with HIV, and supporting the many ways that
people fight this disease each and every day."
The exhibit will next travel to Washington,
D.C.; Miami Beach, Fla.; Los Angeles; and San
Francisco. For more information visit www.reyatazphotocontest.com. (The Advocate)
