The chief executive officer of New York City's Gay Men's Health Crisis has been appointed to the state's AIDS Advisory Council.
The chief executive officer of New York City's Gay Men's Health Crisis has been appointed to the state's AIDS Advisory Council. Marjorie Hill will join the 24-year-old board, which is responsible for advising the state's commissioner of health and making recommendations for HIV/AIDS issues.
"I am excited to have this opportunity to help shape HIV/AIDS public policy in the state of New York," Hill said in a statement Thursday. "New York remains the epicenter of the epidemic. The New York State AIDS Advisory Council's critical role in developing policy has the ability to influence the nation."
The 17-member board is made up of leaders in education and medicine, representatives of nonprofit organizations, and local advocates. (The Advocate)
