In the wake of the tragedy last summer in Orlando's Pulse nightclub, Mayor Buddy Dyer has declared June 12 as "Orlando United Day."
Dyer made the announcement this week alongside Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs to celebrate and remember the lives of the 49 lost in the June 2016 shooting. The new holiday, being touted as "a day of love and kindness," will feature various community events, including a flag unveiling, community reflection and gallery of items collected from Orlando memorial sites. For more information about the day of remembrance, visit the event's official site.
