For her new music video, "I Need a Woman to Love Me," longtime LGBT ally Kesha helped a lesbian couple tie the knot. The couple, Lindsay and Dani, are longtime fans who were inspired by how Kesha handled anti-LGBT protesters while performing at a Pride parade.
"I Need a Woman to Love Me" is part of the upcoming LGBT celebratory album Universal Love, which includes same-sex anthems from Bob Dylan, St. Vincent, and Valerie June. The album was produced by MGM Resorts, where the ceremony in the video takes place. MGM Resorts had held same-sex commitment ceremonies more than a decade before marriage equality became law.
"When I was approached for this project, I instantly said yes," Kesha said regarding singing on the album, "It was a no-brainer."
The album has been embraced with lots of joy, but also some criticism.
