Universal Pictures to release Bailey and Barbato's Deep Throat documentary
Universal Pictures will release Inside Deep Throat, a provocative and sexually graphic documentary about the hit porno movie Deep Throat, according to Variety. The film is being produced by Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer (who won a Best Picture Oscar for A Beautiful Mind) and directed by out filmmakers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato (Party Monster, The Eyes of Tammy Faye). Partially funded by HBO, Inside features interviews with Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson, Carl Bernstein, Hugh Hefner, Norman Mailer, Gore Vidal, and John Waters. "There were 50 years, at least, of pornography that preceded Deep Throat," Grazer told Variety. "Deep Throat had a great title, and it celebrated the right iconic act--it celebrated a blow job. Because of the title and what it successfully celebrated, it became the most litigated, most profitable movie ever." Inside Deep Throat is set to be released, unrated, in early 2005.
