Tony Kushner's one-act opera Brundibar will be onstage at New York's New Victory Theater, Friday, April 28, through Sunday, May 21. Adapted from the German children's opera that was performed by concentration camp children during the Nazi era, Kushner's piece features production design by Maurice Sendak. Presented in tandem with the opera will be Kushner's But the Giraffe, a Curtain Raiser to Hans Krasa's Brundiba r, which tells the story of conductor Rudolph Freudenfeld, who smuggled the Brundibar score into the Terezin concentration camp. Euan Morton, who played Boy George in Taboo on Broadway and in London, stars in Brundibar. The New Victory is located at 209 W. 42nd St.; for tickets and more information, call (212) 239-6200 or visit www.NewVictory.org.
