A group of Jerusalem residents is organizing a petition against WorldPride in the Israeli capital late this summer. Backers of the petition point out that they have nothing against gay people but object to the idea being promoted publicly by the international gay pride event. The move has been encouraged by municipal councilor Mina Fenton, who, according to antigay activist Judith Berger, is the only councilor trying to stop the parade. "Please do not let these people, who choose to practice and promote this act, march on the holiest city in the world, Jerusalem," Berger said. WorldPride is scheduled for August 11, and organizers predict more than 20,000 people will attend the celebration. (Sirius OutQ News)
