Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig ordered Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen to undergo sensitivity training and handed him a fine on Thursday, following Guillen's homophobic outburst earlier this week against Chicago Sun-Times reporter Jay Mariotti. "What a piece of shit he is, fucking fag,'' Guillen said, referring to Mariotti, in response to an article the reporter had written about Guillen's management skills.

Wednesday night Guillen expressed regrets for the remarks, saying, "If I hurt anybody with what I called him, I apologize, but I wasn't talking about those people. I was talking strictly about Mariotti." The attack against Mariotti was caught on tape Tuesday and occurred in front of about 20 other journalists.

Guillen stressed the apology was aimed at Chicago's gay community--not to Mariotti. (Sirius OutQ News)
