Comments that
Florida state representative Bob Allen made to police
following his arrest for solicitation will be thrown out of
court because he was not read his Miranda rights,
state prosecutors concluded Monday.
Allen is being
charged with allegedly offering $20 to perform oral
sex on an undercover police officer in a public restroom
last month. He was recorded as saying that he
entered the transaction out of fear of being
attacked by the black men in the park. He's since
apologized to local activists for his remarks.
Allen's
attorney, Greg Eisenmenger, told the Orlando Sentinel
Monday that authorities continued to question his
client after he asked for legal counsel. The hearing
was a precursor to the full trial, set for September 19.
