University of Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne says the two wrestlers dismissed last week after appearing on a pornographic website had run afoul of NCAA rules on a previous occasion.
Osborne said Friday the athletic department had declared Paul Donahoe and Kenny Jordan ineligible once before for violating the extra-benefits rule, which prohibits student athletes from receiving gifts, discounts, and other benefits not available to all students.
Osborne says the athletic department had to appeal to the NCAA to have the pair reinstated. Each was suspended for one match.
By appearing on the gay porn site Fratmentv.com, the pair violated an NCAA rule that prohibits student-athletes from using their images for commercial purposes. (AP)
