Community Marketing Inc. has released its annual list of the most popular travel destinations for gays and lesbians, and again New York City holds the top slot for domestic travel.
Rounding out the top five cities are San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Los Angeles/West Hollywood.
The findings showed that nearly all destinations experienced a decrease in LGBT travel, except Washington, D.C., which garnered higher numbers. Overall, gays traveled less in 2009, particularly on cruises and for business.
CMI, the San Francisco-based LGBT market research and communications firm, has taken the pulse of gay and lesbian tourism and hospitality annually since 1994. This year's report is based on surveys of 4,726 LGBT people living in the United States.
More figures, including those on international destinations, youth travel, and popular cities among lesbians, can be found here.
