Kissing a man, leading another around by a leash, and shoving a third's head into his crotch made Adam Lambert's American Music Awards debut one to remember - but it also made more than a few people mad.

ABC says it has received more than 1,500 complaints about Lambert's performance of his single "For Your Entertainment." The network has categorized the response as "moderate."

Lambert said going into the performance that he wanted to break down the double standard that female performers have to be sexually provocative but men are not.

Various bloggers and talk shows have weighed in on the performance. On The View, Elizabeth Hasselbeck said she felt the perfrmance was in bad taste while Barbara Walters defended Lambert and scolded ABC for refusing to let them re-air footage during daytime hours.

Later that night on The Joy Behar Show, actor Bradley Whitford criticized the media for its coverage of Lambert's performance, saying people were largely offended solely because the singer is gay.
