A New York City-based gay activist was attacked by bouncers at a Queens nightclub early Saturday because he was dancing with another man.
According to the New York Post,"Tarlach MacNiallais, 47, was punched and kicked and had a chair smashed over his head in the attack by two security guards at the Guadalajara De Noche restaurant in Jackson Heights at 12:43 a.m. Saturday, police said."
MacNiallais told police that the bouncers told him he could not dance with another man because the establishment was not a gay bar, the Post reported.
Police are treating the attack as a possible hate crime.
MacNiallais is a spokesman for the Irish Lesbian and Gay Organization, known for its fight to be included in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. He was treated at a local hospital for cuts and bruises after the attack.
