Out actress Sarah Paulson, who starred on the short-lived NBC series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
and appears on this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy, sits down with
her little sister Rachel for a video interview with lesbian website
SheWired.com. The two discuss everything from her childhood crush on
Alyssa Milano to her relationship with Emmy and Tony winner Cherry
Jones.
The interview kicks off light and fluffy, with the two talking about the Golden Globe nominee's first crush -- a boy, actually -- though Sarah then admits to having a thing for Alyssa Milano.
"Everybody had a crush on Alyssa Milano," Rachel Paulson counters.
"That's because I wanted to be that character. Remember ... she had that baseball mitt. Sam Micelli," Sarah Paulson says.
The two continue to chat -- about Paulson's career, about being an out actress in Hollywood, and about the much-publicized kiss she planted on then-girlfriend Cherry Jones after Jones won the Best Actress Tony for Doubt in 2005.
"I had never, prior to Cherry, been in a proper, serious relationship ... drunken make-outs with chicks don't count," Paulson says, "Cherry was the first person. I was just so dizzyingly, insanely, madly in love with her that the consequences, if there were to be some, weren't a part of the fabric of my thoughts."
When Jones won the Best Supporting Actress Emmy last year for playing the president on 24, she didn't thank Paulson, which led to media speculation the two had broken up. Jones confirmed the split the following week, the first time, Paulson says, she really worried her sexuality might have an effect on her career.
"The more information the world has about who you are as an individual, the less possible it is for you to be able to disappear into a character."
The two talk a bit about Jones, but Paulson will simply say that they continue to be friends and their relationship is an "ongoing situation." Watch the video here for more from Sarah and Rachel Paulson.
