This is President Obama's first State of the Union address.

President Obama will give Congress his annual State of the Union address on Wednesday, the White House announced.

The address will be Obama's first and will be broadcast live on national television as well as streamed on WhiteHouse.gov.

Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress following his inauguration last year was not a formal State of the Union address.
