Michael Sucsy, the Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning director of Grey Gardens, has signed with Spyglass Entertainment to direct the romance flick The Vow, Variety reports.

Spyglass is financing the film, about a young woman who loses all of her recent memory in a car accident and struggles to rebuild her identity while her husband tries to win her heart a second time. It is based on the true story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, who were hit from behind by a fast-moving truck while driving in their car in 1993.

Out filmmaker Sucsy is rewriting the script, originally written by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein of the film Valentine's Day.

Sucsy is also working on a rewrite of Goree Girls, an indie drama to star Jennifer Aniston, about the true story of an all-female country band in a Texas prison in the 1940s.
