MSNBC host Rachel Maddow and financial expert Suze Orman were on hand Wednesday to receive awards for their trailblazing work in microblogging.

Maddow and Orman won Shorty Awards, which are being touted as Twitter's version of the Academy Awards. Orman won for best finance tweets, and Maddow tied for best journalism with William Bonner, a journalist in Brazil. Acceptance speeches were limited to 140 characters.

The second annual Shorty Awards were handed out by CNN's Rick Sanchez at a ceremony at the Times Center in the New York Times Tower.

The awards were presented by Sawhorse Media and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The full list of winners is available here.
