At a meeting of the Los Angeles Stonewall Democratic Club, the endorsement of state assembly member Mike Davis was called into question because of "lingering concerns" over his voting record.
Davis's name was drawn from the endorsement roster, which, according to club rules, allows three people to speak for and three people to speak against his endorsement. LGBT POV's Karen Ocamb reports that one Davis supporter announced the club should endorse him because "he's gay."
According to Equality California's Geoff Kors, Davis abstained from voting in 2007 when the marriage equality bill came up for a vote. He voted in favor of the Harvey Milk Day bill in 2008 but was absent for that vote and the out-of-state marriage equality bill in 2009.
He also said Davis never returned the organization's candidate questionnaire.
