Some Florida Republicans said they want their donations back from Gov. Charlie Crist because he is running for Senate as an independent candidate.
"Gov. Crist had raised quite a bit of money from Republican donors and given that he's left the Republican Party we certainly think it's reasonable that those folks would like their money back," said Katie Betta, spokeswoman for the Republican Party of Florida.
Donors said Crist has more than $7 million in his campaign account and the governor should refund the money to all who want it, WJXX, a Jacksonville-area television news station reported.
Crist left the party last week to run as an independent candidate. He will face Republican Marco Rubio and Democrat Kendrick Meek in the November elections.
