Omar Bonilla may have realized his dream to attend prom in drag and win the title of prom queen, but it cost him the support of his parents and some people at his South Florida high school.
According to The Miami Herald,"Dressed in his drag persona as Allison Rodriguez, Bonilla became queen of the Pridelines Youth Services gay prom Saturday night at Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus."
Bonilla, 19, ran for prom queen last month at Flanagan High in Pembroke Pines, but when he ranked among the top vote finishers, school officials objected on safety grounds. They suspended him after he parked in a visitor spot, which prevented him from attending the prom Friday.
Bonilla attended the Pridelines party with some 250 other youths instead, and he won the title. However, his parents kicked him out because of all the publicity, and now he hopes to live with relatives.
