President Barack Obama was greeted with hecklers demanding more funding for AIDS programs and swifter action to end the "don't ask, don't tell" policy at a fund-raiser for House and Senate Democrats in New York City on Wednesday evening.
According to the Associated Press, activists at the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown shouted and held signs that said "Obama Broken Promises Kill" while supporters attempted to drown out the activists.
"Obama responded by insisting he's increased AIDS funding and was working to overturn the military's so-called 'don't ask, don't tell' policy," reported the AP. "He told the protesters to go shout at Republicans, noting that a vote on 'don't ask, don't tell' failed this week in the Senate, with Republicans united in opposition."
