Kieron Richardson, star of the long-running British serial Hollyoaks, recently revealed a case of nerves over his character's newly announced gay story line.
The soap star recently orchestrated a double coming-out on U.K. talk show This Morning -- for himself and on the behalf of his character, Ste Hay. He said his reservations stem primarily from the what Ste will be forced to contend with in upcoming episodes, not simply the fact that his character is gay.
"I'm absolutely terrified about it, just because it's gay domestic abuse," Richardson said in a red carpet interview with Digital Spy. "It's something I haven't gone through."
Richardson said he hopes to perhaps take inspiration from some of the fan feedback he has received since since the announcement of the new story line.
"One guy e-mailed me saying that he was the first guy in a gay relationship to get his partner sent to prison for domestic abuse," Richardson said. "So Hollyoaks is trying to contact him and we're going to get a little meeting set up, so I can get some proper insight into how it goes on."
