U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss of Georgia called popular gay blogger Joe Jervis on Thursday to apologize for the antigay slur posted on the blog Joe.My.God. by a Chambliss staffer last week.
Jervis posted a paraphrased conversation in which Chambliss offered his "sincerest apologies" for the "All f****ts must die" comment left on the blog hours after the Senate filibustered an effort to repeal "don't ask, don't tell" last week. The IP address led Jervis to the Atlanta office of Chambliss as the source of the comment.
Chambliss issued a statement after he called Jervis that confirmed the "removal" of the offending staff member. The identity of that person, and his or her position in the office, remains unknown.
